Aljibe

Remember long ago we talked about "aljibes" in the class? One of you said he had visited one of those cisterns. In Spain, the muslims built lots of them. These pictures are from one I saw in Cáceres. You can see an opening in the ceiling ("brocal" in Spanish) through which the water comes down into the cistern. At the back there are some stairs for people to go down and take the water, clean the walls, etc. The last image is of one cistern of this type. But there are many others!
